2.4 Community and Social Data

When you use Community features, we collect:

• Institution, department, level, and course enrollments
• Messages posted in Level Chat (content, timestamp, sender)
• Quiz performance data used for leaderboard rankings
• Reading materials you upload, view, or download
• Token transfer records (sender, recipient, amount, timestamp)
• Community suggestions and feedback you submit

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account and provide access to the Service
• Process token purchases and subscription payments via Paystack
• Generate AI-powered quiz questions using Google Gemini AI based on your inputs
• Enable community features: course enrollment, level chat, leaderboards, and shared materials
• Display your username and quiz performance to other users in your enrolled academic level
• Calculate and display leaderboard rankings within your level
• Moderate community content to enforce acceptable use policies
• Send you important service notifications (account updates, subscription reminders, payment confirmations)
• Process referral rewards when applicable
• Improve, debug, and personalize your experience
• Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents
• Comply with applicable Nigerian law and legal obligations
• Respond to your support inquiries and communications

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: Third-party vendors who help us operate the Service, including Paystack (payment processing), Google Gemini (AI processing), and our hosting provider. These parties are contractually obligated to protect your data.
• Quiz Participants: When you share a quiz via its access code, participants see the quiz title and questions you created. Quiz owners can see participant scores and performance data.
• Community Members: When enrolled in a course, your username and quiz performance within that course are visible to other students and users enrolled in the same level.
• Level Chat: Messages you send in Level Chat are visible to all users currently enrolled in that level.
• Leaderboards: Your username and quiz scores are displayed on leaderboards visible to users in your level.
• Token Transfers: When you transfer tokens, both sender and recipient details are recorded and visible to both parties.
• Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required by Nigerian law, court order, or government authority.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred to the new entity, with notice provided to users.

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. AI Processing and Third-Party AI Providers

Our AI quiz generation feature is powered by Google Gemini AI. When you use this feature:

• Your input (topic text, uploaded document content, or prompt) is transmitted to Google's Gemini API for processing
• Google processes this data in accordance with their privacy policies and API terms of service
• We do not instruct Google to retain your content beyond the processing of your request
• Uploaded documents are processed temporarily and are not permanently stored by Google's AI systems
• We recommend you do not upload personally sensitive or confidential documents for AI processing

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service:

• Account information is retained for the lifetime of your account
• Quiz data and results are retained indefinitely (or until you delete them)
• Level Chat messages may be retained for up to 12 months for moderation purposes
• Payment and transaction records are retained for a minimum of 5 years as required by Nigerian financial regulations
• Uploaded documents for AI generation are processed and not retained beyond your session
• Upon account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:

• Password hashing using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms
• HTTPS/SSL encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
• Secure payment processing via Paystack (we do not store full card details)
• Access controls restricting who can access your data within our team

Despite these measures, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to report any suspected security breach immediately.
